Intrinsic permeability
In physics and engineering, permeation (also called imbuing) is the penetration of a permeate (a fluid such as a liquid, gas, or vapor) through a solid. It is directly related to the concentration gradient of the permeate, a material's intrinsic permeability, and the materials' mass diffusivity. Permeation is modeled by equations such as Fick's laws of diffusion, and can be measured using tools such as a minipermeameter. WebThe coefficient of permeability k (also known as the hydraulic conductivity) has the units of m/s is defined from: where the fluid is flowing through a thickness x (m) with pressure …

For compounds where active efflux … Web1.4 Intrinsic permeability (k): Rearrangement of Equation 2 results in a definition of intrinsic permeability: Ku k = . (5) g Since this is a property of the medium alone, if fluid properties change, the fluid conductivity must also change to keep the intrinsic permeability a constant. By using measured fluid conductivity, and values of ...
WebOur previous study showed that the loss of rfaF encoding lipopolysaccharide heptosyltransferase II, which transfers a second heptose residue into the LPS core, reduced membrane permeability. 38 Therefore, we conclude that the structure of lipid A-core region plays an important role in the outer membrane permeability and intrinsic resistance of ... WebMay 8, 2012 · Its intrinsic permeability was determined to be about 10 −14 –10 −12 m 2 under confining pressures of 3.75 and 1.25 MPa, which was about 6–8 orders of magnitude higher than that of intact meta-sandstone specimen P9, and 4–6 orders of magnitude higher than that of specimens P4 and P5.
